CONTEST RULES & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  1. Each Contestant who enters the contest:
    1. Acknowledges acceptance of these contest rules and agree to adhere to and be bound by the contest rules and conditions.
    2. Releases and holds harmless Clovelly RSL club and Air-Force Limited (the organizers), Clubcorp Entertainment (the coordinators) and it’s agents or hosts, contest sponsors, their employees, board members and representatives, successors and assigns from and against any claims, losses or damage to any person or property, including death, incurred by contestant or contestant’s representatives, directly or indirectly in whole or in part, arising from in connection with or related to the operation of, or participation in the contest.
  2. Entry into the competition is free. Registration and Entry forms must be completed in full.
  3. All performances shall take place at the premises of Clovelly RSL and Air-Force Club Limited located at 263-269 Clovelly Road, Clovelly NSW 2031.
  4. The Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Competition shall be held every Sunday from 4.00PM. There will be a total of 7 Heats, 2 x Semi Finals and 1 x Grand Final and 1 Audience Vote Grand Final.
  5. Contestants performing in a specific heat, semi-final or grand final will be required to be present at the venue no later than 3.15PM on the day of their performance.
  6. Commencement date for the heats will be 5th June 2005.
  7. Semi Finals will be held on 24h July 2004 and 31st July 2004.
  8. The Audience Vote Grand Final will be held on the 7th August, 2005.
  9. The Grand Final will be held on 14th August, 2005.
  10. All contestants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of their first stage appearance in the Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Competition.
  11. The Contestant must be capable of performing his/her performance safely on a stage measuring 8ft x 8ft.
  12. The performance cast may not exceed six people.
  13. Permitted genres of performance are: Vocal Performance, Spoken Word (Poetry), Musical (instrumental or with vocals but no disc jockey only), Dance, Stand-Up Comedy, Ventriloquism, Impersonations, Magic and Circus Type Acts (no animals).
  14. Entry in to the Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Competition is restricted to amateur and semi-professional artists only. A professional artist is a person (or persons) who during the past 5 years has earned the greater part of their income by vocal or instrumental talents by live performance or recordings. Clovelly RSL & Air-Force Club Limited reserves the right to refuse entry to this competition of any person these conditions may apply to.
  15. The Directors and Manager of Clovelly RSL & Air Force Club Limited and the Management of Clubcorp Entertainment and its hosts are not eligible to enter the Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Competition.
  16. Contestants entering the Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Competition, as vocalists shall nominate two songs from a list of musical backing tracks and arrangements as supplied by the coordinator or alternatively supply their own musical backing tracks. Each Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Contestant will be required to perform two songs in succession or alternatively no more than 10 minutes of total performance time.
  17. Lyrics are available on the screen however, not all of the backing tracks on our list have lyrics so please be aware of this.
  18. All contestants entering the Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Competition must complete a Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Entry Form and return it to Clubcorp Entertainment for acceptance.
  19. On acceptance of entry the contestant shall be allocated a performance date. Once the contestant accepts the nominated performance date the performance date is deemed confirmed. Performance dates will not be changeable.
  20. All contestants must register their presence at the venue at least 45 minutes prior to the advertised start time of the heat, semi final or grand finals. At such time contestants will be asked to draw an appearance order for the heat, semi final or grand final. Failure to arrive at the venue prior to such time may deem those performers disqualified for that heat, semi final or grand final event.
  21. Any contestant arriving late (after commencement) will be placed in the next convenient spot or may not be allowed to perform and may be given another date to appear subject to availability. This decision will be at the discretion of Clovelly RSL & Air-Force Club Limited and Clubcorp Entertainment, each case will be judged individually and subject to availability.
  22. Backing tracks shall only be accepted in CD and mini disk format. All other formats shall be rejected.
  23. All backing tracks to be used must be ready for play when given to the sound technician. Each CD or MINI DISC must be labelled with the contestant’s name, name of songs and phone number. The contestant assumes all risks of possible soundtrack malfunction in such a case. Bringing a back up copy is recommended.
  24. If, during the performance, a malfunction occurs the contestant may continue with the next song or the performance will be completed if it is the second number. An attempt to restart the song may be acceptable if it is within the first verse only and the backing track is still functioning. The venue host may use his/her discretion if this occurs.
  25. The sound technician will balance the volume level of contestants with the volume of the accompaniment. All microphones will be adjusted to the same volume level and it is the responsibility of the contestant to achieve balance using microphone technique. Master volumes will remain at the same level unless extreme circumstances arise.
  26. At no time during the Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Competition shall Clovelly RSL & Air-Force Club Limited, Clubcorp Entertainment or it’s agents or hosts be responsible for the quality of musical backing tracks or musical arrangements.
  27. Clovelly RSL & Air-Force Club Limited will coordinate the P.A. system and audio equipment. This will be the only equipment to be used while on stage (does not include musical instruments).
  28. Contestants entering the Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Competition wishing to play an instrument during their performance shall supply their own musical instruments and notify Clubcorp Entertainment at least 7 days prior to the performance date of the instruments to be used.
  29. At no time shall any contestant attempt to use fire, flames or any type of pyrotechnics in any form without the prior written consent of Clovelly RSL & Air-Force Club Limited.
  30. Acceptance into the Clovelly Idol Talent Quest Competition will be notified by phone or email, upon acceptance of entry and registration forms.
  31. Contestants will be given a performance date by the co-coordinator. Performance dates will not be changeable without sufficient notice of any such requests and subject to availability.
  32. There may be limitations on the number of competitors for the contest. Entries will be accepted on a first in – first served basis.
  33. A contestant may attempt to qualify for semi final heats more than once depending upon availability of performance time in the remaining heats. Performers may not book into more than one heat at a time.
  34. Performances containing vulgar or explicit language will not be allowed. Contestants who, during their performance, use vulgar language or lyrics or perform in an obscene manner will be disqualified from the competition.
  35. Contestants will obey the directions of the hosts and stage managers at all times when on stage. Failure to comply may result in disqualification. All contestants must report to the host on arrival to the club premises.
  36. A performance may be terminated before its completion, at the judge’s discretion, for any reason. A performance may be terminated if, in the opinion of the judges or the organizers, any of the contest rules are being broken.
  37. Contestants will receive scores as judged according to the following guidelines:
    Appearance: costume, presentation.
    Stage Presence: body language, expression, style and movement.
    Ability as a Performer: vocal, comic, dramatic etc.
    Entertainment Value: audience appeal, the X-factor etc.
  38. The contestant with the highest score will win the specific heat, semi final or grand final.
  39. The Contestant who has the most votes on the Grand Final performance will win
  40. Decisions made by the Competition Judges are considered final and not subject to appeal of any form.
  41. All scoring and judging sheets shall remain the property of Clovelly RSL and Air-Force Club Limited. Scores and judging sheets shall be confidential and undisclosed to any and all contestants, sponsors, their employees, board members and representatives and successors.
  42. Contestants with the highest 3 scores in each heat shall progress to the semi final heats and receive $50.00 cash or a $50.00 shopping voucher each. In the case of a tie for any of the three highest three scores the judges may, at their discretion, select the 4 highest scores to progress. All other contestants shall receive nil prize money and a nil appearance fee.
  43. If a contestant qualifies for the semi finals and is unable to perform or compete in the semi final heats, he or she must notify the coordinator as soon as possible and inform of their condition. In such a case the competitor in the same heat, with the next highest point score may be chosen to replace them.
  44. Contestants with the highest 6 scores in each semi final will progress to the grand final and receive $50.00 each in prize money. All other contestants shall receive nil prize money and a nil appearance fee.
  45. If a contestant qualifies for the grand final and is unable to perform or compete in the grand final, he or she must notify the coordinator as soon as possible and inform of their condition. In such a case the competitor in the same semi final, with the next highest point score may be chosen to replace them.
  46. The contestant with highest score at the grand final shall win the grand prize of $2,000.00. The contestant with the second highest score shall win $700.00. The contestant with the third highest score shall win $300.00. All other contestants in the grand final shall receive nil prize money and a nil appearance fee.
  47. Contestants will also receive an audience vote at the end of every heat. The contestant with the highest votes or points will receive a bonus $50.00 prize. This prize and award is totally independent of any judge’s and qualifying decisions and is totally based on the audience vote alone.
  48. All Contestants winning an audience vote will receive automatic entry into the Audience Vote Grand Final.
  49. All contestants agree to allow Clovelly RSL and Air-Force Club Limited and Clubcorp Entertainment to photograph, film, tape or record any of the contestant’s performances at any time at their discretion. Such material will only be used for promotional purposes within the Clovelly RSL and Air-Force Club.
  50. Clovelly RSL and Air-Force Club Limited and Clubcorp Entertainment reserve the right to change these rules and conditions at their discretion.
  51. Any previous first place Grand Final winners are ineligible to enter.
